Coloring Book Page 2

Here's the first one:
It's gonna look cool all watercolored up. :)

Drawing in pencil is less scary than pen. The shading is easier for me too, than with pen.

Coffee cup

I love drawing on watercolor paper. And I love drawing coffee cups.

ブーケ。 ブーー

Today I bought the markers I'd been thinking about ever since I saw them at Target weeks ago. $5.99 for 50 markers! Yay! これで職場でも絵を描くこともできるでしょうね。:)

My wrinkles and sheet folds look like coffee cup cracks and swamp ooze. ハァ。

Our desk.

This kind of drawing makes me want one of those Bamboo Pads so I can color everything in with the click of a button. :) I love it.

ハァI'm still learning (笑)

I tried drawing my first watercolor tree before a lesson on Friday. I have so much to learn about this medium. It seems so messy and uncontrollable, wetting the paper before adding the paint; and I'm not used to 'lying' - making things up instead of drawing them from life - even though those things make it possible for magic to happen.

I guess I still don't really have a theme going yet for all these drawings... I wonder what I'll end up gravitating towards most as time goes by.

first self-portrait of the year

Crayola markers and my favorite pen of all, which I constantly manage to lose, a Pilot vBall.

Same Starbucks, different corner

Something tells me I didn't measure the table quite right, lol, but I like the shoe and the sock.

After chatting with Ryo happily while drawing him for a half hour Sunday morning, he got up to fix himself another tea and the guy that was sitting near us got up and got ready to go. When he walked by me on his way out he said 'Your Japanese is good though'. He spoke Japanese?? When I told Ryo he was sad we missed the chance to make a friend, lol.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

It was much dimmer than it looks at this Starbucks in San Bernardino Saturday night.

Not much chance (motivation?) to draw today so I scribbled off this little building on a note for a coworker Friday afternoon.

I've always wanted to try drawing a bike. It was hard.

whale tails & curliques

I would have liked to have done this in watercolor but that'd be harder to cover up when the boss walks by. Apparently orange Staples highlighters show up as yellow in the scanner.

I wonder how I would draw things differently if I were living in a different time.

There are a ton of pears at my work. Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable breaking out the watercolors there, so for now markers must suffice.

Can you tell I started drawing them from the right? It took a while for my eyes and hands to get used to them. I think I was a little afraid of blending the markers too, in the beginning.

Hard to be sneaky about watercolors at work, so this is colored pencil, highlighters, markers and pens, outlined in the cheap but good Staples Optiflow.

Pen cup

I bet you thought I'd given up on my new year's resolution, didn't you?? Never!!!Today we went to Blick Art Supply and I bought all kinds of goodies - ink, nibs and a pen holder; black felt tip pens and my favorite Pilot VBalls, waterproof archival ink Sakura Micron pens and watercolors - sparkly and non-sparkly. This drawing was done with a new Sakura Micron 02 and Reeve's 12 color watercolor set.

I love art supply stores.

I really don't know what watercolors can even do yet - I've got a lot of exploring to do.

A Watercolor a Day

I am riiight at the beginning of my 'I'm nearly 30 years old and it's finally time to figure out what I want to do with my life' new year's resolution. I was thinking I need something I can do everyday to make me be creative. I've always liked art. I love pens and writing and drawing. I love what other people do with watercolor, though I've never worked with them much, and definitely not in school. Then today, I was thinking in the elevator, heading in for another day of drudgery at work - what if I could be an illustrator?

I wouldn't want to get ahead of myself though. I don't even know what an illustrator really does, or what kinds of illustrators there are. I'll do more research.

For now, this is it.

A watercolor a day.

Thanks for stopping by.
